I believe that the distribution of societal wealth (not just income) in the United States has become skewed and entrenched to the point that principles of fairness and justice are meaningless abstractions for most people.  The only peaceful redress I can see is a South African style reconciliation process combined with very high estate taxes and a progressive tax structure (roughly rates from the 1960s).

I’m a white 1%er, I also happen to have been a philosophy major who read too much Rawls and understands my lot in life could have been much different.
