I am strongly pro-life and oppose abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. To be consistently pro-life, I feel it only follows that I should oppose the death penalty. The Judeo-Christian tradition believes in redemption and conversion. This does not mean that a criminal should not be punished, but his life should be spared to give him all the time he needs to repent. If my life or that of another is threatened, I have no problem killing the assailant. We have the means today to keep violent criminals from doing further harm without resorting to capital punishment.
