I'm a registered Democrat, but my personal beliefs sit much further left than those of the mainstream political party. As for gun control in particular, the general accepted positions seem to be for either tighter restrictions or banishment. Up until not that long ago, I would have co-signed the same. Over the last year and a half, however, my feelings have shifted. I no longer think that owning guns or liking guns or wanting to have a gun for protection is inherently stupid. I still think that the vocal majority suffer from delusional thinking (that they are truly in danger or that they are heroes waiting for the opportunity to shine). But I think that a lot of stupid and violent people now feel validated and amped up and that it may be a good idea to be prepared to counter them.
